Book of Me!

I'm doing a "Book of Me!" That's why I have entries that are just about me. I'm not really this self-centered, but why not start one now while my memories are intact! My husband and his family LOVE to remind me that I'm not getting any younger.

10 Things

You don't have to tell me...I already know...I live a wild and crazy life!

Quit Complaining Girl!

Quit complaining girl. We had a great lesson in Relief Society at church today, but the thing I most got out of the lesson was a brief message given by my neighbor, Diane, about the importance of work. She spoke about making choices and living with those choices (in a roundabout fashion). This is a topic I have some strong opinions about. After we married, I made the choice to be a stay-at-home mom (or a work from home mom) while my penguins are little. I (or we) made that choice and live with the consequences (the good and the bad). Diane's message spoke to the fact that when we make choices, we need to be happy about all that comes along with those choices or life will be LONG! If I make the choice to be a SAH mom, then complaining about diapers, or laundry, or kids for that matter will be quite counteractive to my "job." If I can be happy about all the aspects of my job, life will be better. If I make the choice to work out of the house, then complaining about being gone, missing my kids, etc. is counterproductive to that job. I could not agree more.

I get so frustrated when people CONSTANTLY complain about their own choices. Don't get me wrong, I can have a bad day and vent with the best of them, but I hope that isn't a frequent occurance (if it is, please tell me to quit complaining). Complaining constantly just makes you miss out on the joy of the journey.

Earlier this year, we made the decision to be a one car family. With Justin in Texas and me working from home and within walking distance of the kids' school, it just made sense to us at this time. I can't think that I've complained about that, because it was/is our choice and we will live with it. I get so frustrated when people make good decisions for their family and then do nothing but complain about it. What good does that do?

I'll get off my soapbox and give you permission to complain for a minute, but then quit complaining girl or the journey will be long and not fun! Make the best choices for you and/or your family and find a way to make them happy ones! Trust me, it's much more fun!

Past Decade Journaling Challenge

I completed this layout for a Journaling Challenge about the past decade

53 Mondays - Week Two

This one wasn't a huge success. Might be operator error. I'm willing to give it another chance, though!

Snow Much Fun

On New Year's Eve day, Justin took the two older penguins sledding while the baby penguin slept and I worked. They had such a BLAST. There is a park just down at the end of our street with an AWESOME sledding hill. Tyson's friend, Garrett, came along for the fun too!

Christmas...most of it

I've gotten our Utah Christmas pages scrapped. I'll get working on the Vegas one(s) sometime here!

So long December!

I'll get to Christmas eventually, but see ya later December!

53 Mondays

There are 53 Mondays in 2010. What to do? What to do? I'm horrible at New Year's resolutions, but here's one that's a little creative and I may be able to do it. I would like to make a meal once a week from a brand new recipe. For me, that's a big thing. I'm not much of a cook and my husband's not a very creative eater. I'll try to blog about my new recipe and some thoughts on it.

This is my first entry.

Out of order, but it's worth including.
